Woman left freaked out by gruesome organ find in kitchen after moving house

When moving into a new house, people often find that previous owners have left behind an item or two.

You might expect there to be a few discarded mugs in the cupboard, or old bottles in the bathroom.

But you probably would never have dreamt of discovering part of a human heart in your kitchen.

This is exactly what happened to one woman after getting the keys to her new place and starting to unpack her own belongings.

Kathryn Gaston from Glasgow was left feeling pretty freaked out after finding a jar in the kitchen containing an aortic valve in formaldehyde.

Kathryn’s discovery is so bizarre that she has been crowned the winner of a competition by SCS.

The sofa company were looking for the freakiest finds Brits had made in their new homes.

Having beaten over 500 other weird entries, Kathryn will now receive a new sofa worth £849.99.

As well as the aoritc valve, other creepy finds included a witch decoy kit, found by Kerrie Jackson, Wrexham.

The kit, found under the staircase in her new pad, featured eight odd shoes, animal skulls and gun barrels.

Similarly, Paul Jones, from Liverpool discovered a creepy handwritten note and photo in his home.

The note, which looked to have been written by a child, read: “Dear Megan, I hate you a lot at the moment but I love you…”

This didn’t seem to add up to Paul as the former tenants didn’t have any children.

Alongside the note, he also found a Polaroid of a man dressed in a clown costume with a sad expression on his face.

Meanwhile Sam McCloskey found old mental hospital records from the 1920s in his new place in Haywards Heath.

And Anne Marie Martin from Colchester stumbled upon a bottle of arsenic hidden away on the wooden beams in her outbuilding.

One can only wonder what that was intended to be used for!

Dale Gillespie, Head of Acquisition at ScS, said: “With the property market booming, many people will be moving into new homes, and who knows what they might find when they do?

“We were amazed at some of the crazy things people have come across on moving-in day. Finding something like our winner did would put anyone off their breakfast!

“We hope that a new sofa will help Kathryn create some nicer memories in her home.”
